Yikes. Uh I don’t know Wonder Woman as well as I should but real quick, here we go:
Diana is a princess born of clay and given life by the gods on the utopian paradise of Themyscira which is undisturbed by men for centuries until Steve Trevor crashes on their island and accidentally releases an ancient force: Ares.
Diana wins the contest to return Steve to his home and gains the powers of the gods against her mothers wishes. When they return to America, they realize the hell that’s been unleashed on Earth. With war-itself unleashed on man’s world, Diana must remain in Man’s world to battle Ares and restore Peace, as Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman is all about truth, peace, feminism, and kicking greek mythological ass. So I think making her villain Ares, the greek god of war is pretty easy. And make him representational of all the things wrong with patriarchal society. He’s sexist, brutal, manipulative, and savage. And then we have Wonder Woman as a balance to that.
I also considered having Circe or Cheetah involved. As manipulators of Ares so Diana has a lady villain to fight. Circe could be a good villain to start with too. She’s pretty easy to substitute in for Ares in this equation.
I think there’s a ton of action to be had. I think there’s easy ways to find a good message without compromising the character.
I mean the movie writes itself. And what I’ve come up with isn’t too much different than the animated Wonder Woman movie.
Costume wise this is my WW design. I think either very greek armor, or very superheroic with pants is the way to go.
